CLASS OBJECTIVES
All students will…
*Work in a sketchbook.
*Engage in self-directed meaningful work.
*Collaborate with classmates and friends.
*Use technology to research ideas, find visual references, expand ideas about art, and write original blog posts reflecting on process and product.
*Learn to recognize their own working style and appreciate the same of others.
*Participate in class critiques.

*Take responsibility for their own learning and participate every day.

STUDIO RULES
*Respect self, others, and materials at all times.
*Take water/bathroom breaks during studio time only.
*Be flexible.  You’ll never grow if you don’t try new things.
*Be yourself.  Don’t try to be someone else because you will always fail.

STUDIO TIME
Teacher Demonstration - 10 minutes
Studio Time - 39 minutes
Clean up and reflection - 5 minutes

STUDIO REQUIREMENTS
Sketchbook: Different topics and techniques will be presented  for practice in your sketchbook or with a collaborative group. You will make a sketchbook in class.
Artwork + Portfolio: Students will show the teacher a sketch/plan prior to starting finished artwork.  Sketch (10%), Completion (10%), Process (40%), and Reflection/Blog (40%) will be graded on all artworks in your portfolio.
Late work will not be penalized, but starting over and getting behind is not advised!!
Productive Participation: Everyone is expected to exercise a positive outlook, commitment to time, and exercise responsible use of technologies on a regular basis.
Final Exam/Visual Art Classroom Based Assessment (CBA): Each student will complete a Visual Art CBA as written by Washington’s OSPI. The exam requires artwork and complete written reflection on your blog. This assessment will be given at the end of 1st semester as the final exam over 2 weeks.

GRADING
Weighted Grading Scale:
Sketchbook: 19%
Artwork: 52%
Participation: 12%
Final: 17%
*Sketchbooks are graded monthly.
*Artwork/Reflective Blog will be graded based on the 8 Studio Habits of Mind.
*Demonstrations, videos, and other important information will be posted on Google Classroom.
*Grades follow the Walla Walla High School Grading Scale.
